Covid lockdown
Where it started. Two years of Java, many fun mods and plugins, and the reason everything after this felt approachable.
I started coding during the Covid lockdown with Minecraft modding in Java. Two years of that, then JavaScript, then TypeScript and Nuxt, and now most of the interesting work happens in Rust and Go.
The pattern I keep noticing: I like the projects where the system was not built for me to use. An undocumented transit API, six job boards that would rather not be scraped, three exchanges that disagree about a price. The code is rarely the hard part.
Linux is my primary OS and Neovim is where I work. I maintain my own servers. I build my own tools when the tool I want does not exist, which is how a CV compiler and a general purpose hub both happened.
